Tasting Note Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay
Jordan's Nine Yards Chardonnay has a wonderful aromatic nose of ripe fruit such as pear and peach. On the palate, there is spiciness and toasted, creamy notes from aging in small French oak barrels. A delicious Chardonnay with plenty of depth and a beautiful balance between minerality, wood notes, fine acidity, and great structure due to lees aging. Beautiful dark yellow color. Food Pairing
This fantastic and gastronomic Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay pairs well with sole, turbot, or cod, grilled or à la meunière. Other excellent companions for this beautiful wine include: lobster, scallops, poultry, or veal.
Other Information
After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and pressed, followed by fermentation in partly new (70%) and partly used 228-litre French oak barrels. Part of the wine ferments using selected French yeasts, while another part ferments spontaneously with natural yeasts. After fermentation, the wine matures for another 10 months on the lees, allowing it to develop round, complex notes.
Jordan is the only estate in Stellenbosch that owns vineyards planted in every compass direction. It is a true family business that has been producing high-quality wines for years. They combine the ripe, concentrated, and fruity accessibility of the New World with the complex structure of classic wines. International acclaim for their wines is therefore enormous.
Stellenbosch has the most top estates and is surrounded by mountains (Helderberg and Simonsberg). Stellenbosch is home to the only university in South Africa with a viticulture department. Even though two-thirds of the vineyards are planted with white grapes, the realization is growing that Stellenbosch is destined for red wine.
