Tasting Note Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay
The Nine Yards Chardonnay from Jordan has a wonderful aromatic scent of ripe fruit such as pear and peach. On the palate, spiciness and toasted, creamy notes from aging in small French oak barrels. A delicious Chardonnay with a beautiful balance between minerality, wood tones, fine acidity and a lot of structure due to the lees aging. Beautiful dark yellow color. Additional information
After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and pressed, followed by fermentation in partly new (70%), partly used 228-liter French oak barrels. Part of the wine ferments with the help of selected French yeasts, another part ferments spontaneously with natural yeasts. After fermentation, the wine matures for another 10 months on the lees, developing round, complex notes.
Jordan is the only estate in Stellenbosch that owns vineyards planted in every cardinal direction. It is a true family business that has been producing high-quality wines for years. They combine the ripe, concentrated and fruity accessibility of the New World with the complex structure of classic wines. The international ratings are therefore enormous.
Stellenbosch has the most top estates and is surrounded by mountains (Helderberg and Simonsberg). Stellenbosch has the only university in South Africa with a viticulture department. Although two-thirds of the vineyards are planted with white grapes, there is a growing realization that Stellenbosch is destined for red wine.
This flagship from Jordan is a perfect marriage between the old and the new world.
