Tasting Note Jordan Cold Fact Sauvignon Blanc
The Jordan Cold Fact Sauvignon Blanc has a fresh nose of lime, green pepper and fresh herbs. But also ripe tropical fruit, the scent of boxwood and even some dried figs. On the palate, fresh acidity and crisp minerality. Aromatic, dry, fresh, fruity, green apple. Tight and with great depth. Beautiful straw-yellow color.
Wine & Food
This beautiful Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with quiche, Salade Niçoise, seafood and shellfish, and light goat cheese. But Sauvignon Blancs are, of course, perfect wines to simply drink on their own. For a party or as an aperitif.
Additional Information
The Jordan Winery is run by Gary and Kathy Jordan. Not only do they produce excellent wines, but the Jordan restaurant, bistro, and guesthouses are also well worth a visit.
This Sauvignon Blanc is a wine from Stellenbosch, but from an area close to the sea. Cool winds come from two directions, making it 3 degrees cooler than in vineyards slightly further inland. Stellenbosch is the most famous wine region in South Africa.
Stellenbosch has the most top estates and is surrounded by mountains (Helderberg and Simonsberg) with vineyards in every direction. Stellenbosch has the only university in South Africa with a viticulture department. Although two-thirds of the vineyards are planted with white grapes, there is a growing realization that Stellenbosch is destined for red wine.
Cold Fact is the album by singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez, who became a cultural phenomenon in South Africa and gained international fame in the film 'Searching for Sugar Man'. It is also a cold soak technique used by Jordan to extract flavor from the skins of the ripest Sauvignon Blanc grapes (they are searching for Sugar Man), which are then chilled and left on the skins for hours or even overnight, a process that helps extract the intense flavors associated with this highly aromatic grape variety.
