Jeannine Boutin Côte Rotie Bonnevaux has a good balance between ripeness, freshness, and tannins. On the nose: intense aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, but also some red fruit, floral notes (violets), light toasted notes, and an earthy touch. Silky smooth on the palate, powerful yet elegant, with a beautiful interplay of ripe fruit, mineral notes, firm yet ripe tannins, and freshness. The finish is long with a striking minerality. A wine with great aging potential.

Jeannine Boutin is the owner of the vineyards, and her son Stephane Vedeau is the maker and seller of the wines. He makes them in his typical style: with beautiful fruit, elegant texture, modest alcohol levels, and therefore very drinkable. What incredible quality!

Wines from Côte Rôtie are dark red and robust, with a full, rich aroma of raspberry, violets, sometimes a hint of pepper, and often with considerable tannin. They are made from the Syrah grape. Côte Rôtie can age very well; most are at their best after about five years.

The Côte Rôtie, or 'the roasted slope,' is located in the Northern Rhône, half an hour south of Lyon, on the west bank of the river. The vineyards are in full sun, on the steep slopes of two hills: the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde. Sometimes the wine is slightly diluted with some white juice from the Viognier, although this may never exceed 20%, and most winemakers do not use this option. The wines are usually aged in oak barrels.
