Tasting Note Franz Keller Weissburgunder vom Löss
An elegant and fresh Weissburgunder with aromas of white peach, pear, and citrus, complemented by subtle mineral and spicy notes. On the palate, it is beautifully dry and juicy, with a soft structure and lively acidity. The finish is refined and fresh, with a slight mineral tension. A versatile German Pinot Blanc where ripe fruit and freshness come together beautifully.
Wine & Food
Delicious with fish, seafood, poultry, salads, and soft cheeses. Also good with sushi, grilled fish, or a light pasta. Its fresh acidity also makes it an excellent accompaniment to dishes with a creamy sauce.
Other information
The Weissburgunder vom Löss comes from the Kaiserstuhl in Baden, one of Germany's warmest wine regions. Franz Keller works here with Burgundian grape varieties that thrive in the warm climate and on the unique soils of the Kaiserstuhl.
The name vom Löss refers to the loess soils that lie on top of volcanic rock in large parts of the Kaiserstuhl. This combination contributes to the wine's structure and minerality.
The wine falls within the VDP Gutswein category, making it a great introduction to Franz Keller's style. It clearly demonstrates how the winery combines fruit, freshness, and terroir.
Franz Keller - Schwarzer Adler is a gastronomic concept in the Kaiserstuhl, in Baden, and indeed throughout Germany. There is a winery, a wine import and trade business, a hotel, and three restaurants. One of these restaurants, Schwarzer Adler, has continuously held a Michelin star since 1969, the longest of all restaurants in Germany.

Fun fact
Weissburgunder is the German name for Pinot Blanc, but the grape is genetically a mutation of Pinot Gris, which in turn is a color mutation of Pinot Noir. In short: the entire Pinot family is one big wine family.
