Thanks to its subtle contact with oak, this Rioja Chardonnay 875 from El Coto is not only a great wine for the terrace or drinks, but it can also be paired with a variety of delicious dishes. Think of a Spanish seafood stew (zarzuela), Thai rice soup, fatty fish (salmon, anchovy), and all kinds of other seafood delicacies.

The Finca Carbonera estate is home to the highest vineyards in Rioja. The Chardonnay grapes for this wine are grown at an altitude of 875 meters. After harvesting, the wine undergoes fermentation and aging in oak barrels. Uniquely, the barrels used are not toasted, but steam-treated. This ensures that the wood influence and flavor remain truly complementary, allowing the wine to retain a great deal of freshness.

The El Coto de Rioja winery is a relatively young (1970) but highly successful company. The winery in Oyón, just north of Logroño, is impressive due to its scale and efficiency combined with centuries-old traditions.

In addition, El Coto owns over 700 hectares of its own vineyards spread across 7 different locations, enabling them to achieve an optimal diversity in their grape supply. Vineyard management is scientifically supported, ensuring that grapes of the highest possible quality can be produced under all circumstances.

El Coto produces wines with an exceptionally good price-quality ratio. In a short time, they have grown into one of the region's leading houses. For instance, El Coto Crianza is the best-selling Rioja Crianza in Spain, and El Coto Blanco is actually the best-selling white Rioja in the entire world!
