At the Finca Carbonera winery, the highest vineyards in Rioja are located. At an altitude of 875 meters, the Chardonnay grapes for this wine grow. After harvesting, the wine undergoes fermentation and aging in oak barrels. The special thing is that the barrels used are not toasted but steamed with water. This ensures that the wood influence and taste are truly supportive and that a lot of freshness has been preserved in this wine.

The El Coto winery de Rioja is a relatively young (1970) but very successful company. The winery in Oyón, just north of Logroño, is impressive due to its scale and efficiency in combination with age-old traditions.

In addition, El Coto has over 700 hectares of its own vineyards spread across 7 different locations, enabling them to achieve an optimal diversity of grape supply. The vineyard management is scientifically supervised, allowing for the production of grapes of the highest possible quality under all circumstances.

El Coto produces wines with an exceptionally good price-quality ratio. In a short time, they have grown into one of the leading houses in the region. Tasting note El Coto de Rioja 875m Tempranillo

The El Coto 875 m Tempranillo colors an intense ruby red in the glass. On the nose, an inviting bouquet of cherries and other ripe red fruits unfolds, enriched with subtle notes of mocha and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with an excellent balance: the acidity and tannins elegantly support the fruit, and the finish is persistent and warm.

Rioja Tempranillo 875 from El Coto feels perfectly at home alongside rich meat dishes. Think of grilled lamb, stews, or tapas with chorizo. But it also shines beautifully on a charcuterie board with Manchego or marinated olives. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
