The wine is rich and complex with an aromatic bouquet of blackcurrants, blueberries, dark chocolate, violets, and a hint of cardamom and toast. On the palate, the wine is delightfully juicy and rich with recurring fruitiness of ripe blackberries, berries with a hint of black tea. The wine has refined tannins and a lovely freshness in the long and elegant finish.

Duckhorn Vineyards, founded in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in Napa Valley, has built a solid reputation. Craftsmanship and quality are paramount, which is reflected in their diverse portfolio of wines that mirror the unique terroir of Napa Valley. The winery uses carefully selected grapes from various vineyards to produce wines of consistently high quality.

The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine come from different vineyards in Napa Valley. The great variety in altitude, aspect, and soil type in the vineyards gives the wine its complexity and provides a good representation of the character of this grape in Napa Valley.

The addition of a small amount of Merlot and Cabernet Franc makes the wine more approachable and ready to drink sooner. However, this does not detract from the great aging potential of this TOP wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc grapes from the various plots are fermented and aged separately. After the final blend, the wine ages for 16 months in 50/50 new and used French oak barrels.
