Tasting Note District 7 Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon
The District 7 Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, elegant red wine with a typical Californian character. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose opens with intense aromas of blackcurrant, ripe plum, and cassis, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, cocoa, and a hint of oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and round, with silky tannins and a beautiful balance between ripe fruit and fresh acidity. The finish is long and layered, with a fine spiciness that invites the next sip.
Wine & Food Pairing
District 7 Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon is the ideal accompaniment to hearty dishes. Delicious with grilled entrecote, rack of lamb, or slow-cooked beef. Also excellent with stews, BBQ dishes, or hard cheeses such as aged cheddar or Parmesan. A wine that combines strength with elegance and is therefore broadly applicable at the table.
Additional information
District 7 refers to California's seventh winegrowing region, located along the cool coast of Monterey Bay. Here, fresh sea breezes and fog provide a long growing season, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and retain their natural freshness. The wine is entirely Estate Grown, from its own vineyards and sustainably produced with respect for nature and terroir. A modern, elegant Chardonnay that showcases California at its best.
In 1972, Al Scheid first planted vineyards in the then undeveloped and unknown Monterey County. What began as a grape farming operation selling 100% of its production to other wineries has today grown into an absolute "premium player in the winefield"!
The Monterey region, approved as an official AVA in 1984, is one of the leading bastions of viticulture with its distinctive cool climate and home to some of California's most amazing and sought-after Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. With the chilly Monterey Bay at the top of the valley and two mountain ranges on either side, the Monterey AVA is characterized by morning fog, strong winds, cool temperatures, and abundant afternoon sunshine.
