Tasting Notes Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva
Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva opens with elegant aromas of ripe berries, vanilla, and subtle notes of leather and spice. The bouquet is aromatic and beautifully developed: toasted wood, coconut, complemented by tertiary aromas like leather and wet earth. In the mouth, it is refined and harmonious, with softly rounded tannins, beautifully integrated wood, and a long, complex finish. In short, a powerful and sensational Spaniard.

This full-bodied and powerful Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva classically pairs with a roasted leg of lamb. Prefer something different? Consider other grilled (red) meats, a beef or game stew with mushrooms, a cheese board, a chestnut soup, or Spanish hams.
Additional Information
The wine matures for 24 months in American and French oak barrels and then undergoes a further 36 months of bottle aging (usually longer). After this, the Gran Reserva is released to the market.
The El Coto de Rioja winery is a relatively young (1970) but very successful company. The winery in Oyón, just north of Logroño, is impressive due to its scale and efficiency combined with age-old traditions.
In addition, El Coto owns over 700 hectares of vineyards spread across 7 different locations, enabling them to achieve an optimal diversity of grape supply. Vineyard management is scientifically supervised, allowing for the production of grapes of the highest possible quality under all circumstances.
El Coto produces wines with an exceptionally good price-quality ratio. As a result, they have quickly grown into one of the leading houses in the region. For example, El Coto Crianza is the best-selling Rioja Crianza in Spain, and El Coto Blanco is even the best-selling white Rioja in the entire world!
