Tasting Notes Château Puy Rigaud Montagne Saint-Émilion
Expressive aroma of blueberries, blackcurrants, white pepper, and subtle oak notes. The wine has lively acidity, plenty of ripe fruit, and understated, soft tannins. Made from 100% Merlot grapes. Deep purple in color and already drinking beautifully!
Food Pairing
This elegant Bordeaux from Château Puy Rigaud is versatile with food: as an aperitif with a toast with game or farmer's pâté, with the main meal with firmer white meat, red meat, poultry, or game. But also as a finisher with a cheese board with cheeses like Brie and Camembert.
Additional Information
The Montagne Saint-Emilion from Château du Puy is often called the 'Petrus' of Montagne because it first possesses the lavishly rich complexity of a top Pomerol wine with the same unctuous richness, depth, and length, supplemented by the velvety spices and touch of Saint-Émilion. Additionally, this red Bordeaux, like the famous Petrus wine (with a price of no less than €3000 per bottle), is also made from 100% old Merlot vines grown on a limestone and rich 'Pomerol' clay soil in a mini vineyard.
Château Du Puy is the old family castle of Château Lestage, located on the top (Puy) of the highest mountain in Montagne Saint-Émilion. Lestage manages a total of 18.5 hectares of vineyard, of which Château Du Puy with its mini vineyard is the crown jewel. The Merlot vines, averaging 50 years old, are rooted in a subsoil of marl, limestone, and rich clay, which shows great similarities to the famous soil of Pomerol. And the results are certainly impressive!
