Tasting Notes Chateau Pierrefitte Lalande de Pomerol
Château Pierrefitte opens with a deep ruby red color and offers rich black fruit notes like cassis and plums on the nose, interspersed with soft vanilla and spicy tones. On the palate, it is full-bodied, smooth, and balanced: the Merlot dominance provides ripe, consistent fruit, while Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon give structure with firm but ripe tannins. The finish is lingering, with a pleasant mix of dark fruit and subtle oak notes.
Wine & Food
Chateau Pierrefitte Lalande de Pomerol pairs excellently with grilled red meat (think entrecôte, ribeye), stews, or luxurious dishes like beef Wellington. Game dishes, duck, or mushroom dishes can beautifully emphasize its earthy character. Opt for aged cheeses to support the tannins.
Additional Information
Château Pierrefitte is the second wine of Château Perron, located in Lalande-de-Pomerol. The vineyards cover approximately 3.5 hectares and are planted with old vines averaging 55 years of age.
After harvest, the wine matures for about twelve months, partly in new and partly in used oak barrels. The alcohol content is around 13.5%. It is best served between 16 and 18 °C. Although Château Pierrefitte is already beautifully accessible now, it will gain even more depth and complexity with several years of bottle aging.
