The wine is beautifully layered: ripe red fruit, plums, and blackcurrants. Exciting with aromas and flavors of spices and a hint of smokiness. Full, round, with fine tannins and light wood. A surprising wine with a long finish. It is recommended to decant this wine an hour beforehand.

Further Information

The Teroldego grape is exclusively cultivated in Trentino, where it originated. The name refers to the Piana Rotaliano, an alluvial plain between the Adige and Noce rivers.

Vinification takes place according to traditional pulp fermentation. Aging in oak barrels for 24 months, of which at least 12 months in precious Troncais or Allier barrels.

Mezzacorona was one of the first cooperatives in Italy and today represents a large group of wineries from the far north (Trentino) to the deep south (Sicily). The vineyards of winemaker Mezzocorona are located in Trentino and Alto Adige, the region between Verona and the Alps in Italy.

Fun fact

Teroldego probably means something like "Gold of Tyrol." The name is associated with the German words Tirol and Gold. This fits well with the history of Trentino, which for centuries lay on the border of Italian and Tyrolean culture. The grape has been mentioned in Trentino since the 13th century.
