Tasting Note Castel Firmian Riserva Chardonnay
An elegant and rich Chardonnay with aromas of ripe apple, peach, and tropical fruit, complemented by notes of vanilla, toast, and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and creamy, yet beautifully balanced thanks to its fresh acidity. The oak aging adds extra complexity and length without overpowering the fruit.

This Castel Firmian Chardonnay Riserva pairs well with grilled fish, shellfish, poultry, and creamy pasta dishes. Also lovely with risotto, scallops, or chicken in a creamy sauce.
Further Information
The grapes for this Riserva come from vineyards on the slopes of the Trentino mountains, located at an altitude of approximately 200 to 500 meters. Mezzacorona combines grapes from different altitudes to create a wine that possesses both ripeness and freshness.
The region's climate has both alpine and Mediterranean influences. Due to variations in altitude and sun exposure, conditions vary greatly from one vineyard to another, but typically the grapes undergo slow ripening. Thanks in part to the cool nights, they retain many of their aromas and also a lively acidity.
After gentle pressing, a portion of the grapes first undergoes cold maceration to extract additional aromas. The wine then matures partly in wooden barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks. The portion that ages in barriques also undergoes malolactic fermentation and receives regular battonage. This creates that beautiful combination of creaminess, complexity, and freshness.
Mezzacorona was one of the first cooperatives in Italy and today represents a large group of wineries from the far north (Trentino) to the deep south (Sicily). The vineyards of winemaker Mezzacorona are located in Trentino and Alto Adige, the region between Verona and the Alps in Italy.
