Tasting note Castel Firmian Pinot Grigio
An elegant and fresh Pinot Grigio from Trentino with refined floral aromas and notes of white peach, pear, and fresh citrus fruit. On the palate, the wine is juicy and lively, with a beautiful balance between fruit and fresh acidity. The finish is invigorating and slightly mineral. The combination of fruitiness, freshness, and elegance makes this Pinot Grigio a very accessible wine.

Castel Firmian Pinot Grigio is delicious as an aperitif and with salads, fish, sushi, shellfish, and light pasta dishes. Also very tasty with smoked salmon, avocado, and light summer dishes.

Pinot Grigio is actually the same grape as Pinot Gris. The grape has a striking grayish-pink skin, even though it is usually used to make white wine. In Trentino, Pinot Grigio has developed into an important grape according to Mezzacorona, showing its own fresh and aromatic style here.
The grapes are harvested and selected manually. They then undergo a short cold skin maceration. This is interesting, as Pinot Grigio is often known as a simple, light aperitif wine; this technique gives the wine more structure and richness. This is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation.
Mezzacorona was one of the first cooperatives in Italy and today represents a large group of wineries from the far north (Trentino) to the deep south (Sicily). The vineyards of winemaker Mezzocorona are located in Trentino and Alto Adige, the region between Verona and the Alps in Italy.
