Tasting Note Castel Firmian Castel Firmian Filorosso 2 x bottles in luxury gift box
This smooth and velvety Filorosso has aromas of red berries, blueberries, blackberries, herbaceous and spicy notes on the finish. The fruity character is supported by hints of vanilla and a touch of chocolate, coming from the aging in oak barrels. Energetic wine with a feisty acidity and, of course, the typical Italian bitterness at the end!
Wine & Food Pairing
This Castel Firmian Filorosso pairs perfectly with traditional Italian dishes such as pasta with a rich tomato sauce, lasagna, or mushroom risotto. But also grilled red meat, stews or a cheese board with semi-hard cheeses like Pecorino and Fontina. Tip: chill the wine lightly.
Additional information
Excellent quality is the common thread (Filorosso) for the Castel Firmian line from the Mezzacorona winery in Alto Adige. The Filorosso was born in the Dolomites: the habitat of the red deer, which is featured on the label! The Dolomites offer very diverse climatic environments, from the cold Alpine climate in the north to the Mediterranean climate of Lake Garda, ideal for the cultivation of red grape varieties: the historic Teroldego (the king of wines), and the international Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This red wine is therefore a blend of these three varieties, with Teroldego being the undisputed protagonist.
Mezzacorona was one of the first cooperatives in Italy and today represents a large group of wineries from the far north (Trentino) to the deep south (Sicily). The vineyards of winemaker Mezzacorona are located in Trentino and Alto Adige, the region between Verona and the Alps in Italy. Discover more wines from the Castel Firmian winery
Fun fact
The label features a red deer. This refers to the Dolomites, the natural habitat of the red deer and the birthplace of the Filorosso. The wine is thus literally connected to the mountain landscape of Trentino. 🦌
