Tasting Notes Castel Firmian Filobianco

The first sip reveals a vibrant freshness, with invigorating acidity and a soft start. The Filobianco is rich and layered, with distinct aromas of citrus, white pepper, fine herbs, and a subtle hint of dried fruit, suggesting oak aging. In the glass, the wine shines with a bright straw-yellow color.

The bouquet is refined and expressive, with delicate scents of white flowers, ripe peach, and apricot, complemented by a subtle minerality. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, with flavors of pear, citrus, and a soft hint of almond. The wine finishes with an elegant, harmonious, and persistent aftertaste.

Wine & Food Pairing

This Castel Firmian Filobianco is perfect as an aperitif, but also an excellent accompaniment to light appetizers, shellfish, salads, or grilled vegetables. It also pairs well with Asian dishes with a fresh touch, such as sushi or Thai curries with lime.

Additional Information

I was already enthusiastic about the "cherry cannon": The Filorosso from Castel Firmian from the Dolomites, but now there's also a Filobianco! And this one also gets a round of applause. The Chardonnay, Müller Thurgau, and Pinot Blanc grapes are all harvested by hand and placed in small containers to keep them intact; once the grapes arrive at the winery, they are gently pressed. The subsequent vinification takes place in small stainless steel containers with temperature control and large wooden barrels, without malolactic fermentation.

Mezzacorona was one of the first cooperatives in Italy and today represents a large group of wine companies from the far north (Trentino) to the deep south (Sicily). Fun Fact

Müller-Thurgau may be the least known of the three grapes in Filobianco, but this grape is known for its distinct floral and aromatic character. In combination with Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, it gives the wine extra freshness and aroma.
