Tasting Note Castel Firmian Dabèn Moscato Rosa Trentino DOC 0.375 cl
An elegant, sweet red dessert wine with a beautiful ruby red color. The aroma reveals pronounced notes of roses, red fruit, and blueberries, complemented by delicate spicy undertones. The taste is sweet and full, but thanks to the fresh acidity and pleasant savory notes, the wine remains beautifully balanced. The finish is soft, elegant, and velvety.
Wine & Food
Castel Firmian Dabèn Moscato Rosa is a delightful accompaniment to desserts with red fruit, strawberry pie, strudel, milk chocolate, and cantucci. Also surprisingly delicious with lightly aged, aromatic cheeses.
Additional Information
The grapes for the Dabèn come from small vineyards near Pressano, north of Trento, at an altitude of approximately 250–300 meters. The vineyards are situated on calcareous clay soils and benefit from a well-ventilated location.
The grapes are harvested very late by hand, after naturally drying on the vine. This allows them to develop many aromas and sugars. During fermentation, the process is stopped by cooling, so that some of the natural grape sugars are retained.
Mezzacorona was one of the first cooperatives in Italy and today represents a large group of wineries from the far north (Trentino) to the deep south (Sicily). The vineyards of winemaker Mezzacorona are located in Trentino and Alto Adige, the region between Verona and the Alps in Italy.

Fun Fact
Moscato Rosa probably owes its name primarily to its aroma and not to the color of the grapes. The grapes have a dark blue-red to almost black skin, while the wine has a lovely scent of roses. Furthermore, the grape is centuries old and presumably of Greek origin; it came to Trentino via Sicily in the 19th century.
