Tasting Notes Boutinot Les Coteaux Cotes du Rhone Villages
A surprisingly powerful Rhône that immediately impresses. Full of flavour with juicy blackberries, supported by sweet thyme, rosemary and classic aromas of the Provencal garrigue. In the background, subtle spiciness of star anise and a hint of cinnamon. The wine is intense and rich, made from only the very best fruit. Soft, ripe tannins provide structure, while a light touch of oak (after 22 months of barrel aging) adds extra depth and elegance.
Wine & Food
A versatile all-rounder from the southern Rhône. Boutinot Les Coteaux Côtes du Rhône Villages is a true 'wonder wine' that combines effortlessly. Think of roasted leg of lamb or beef, but also classic French stews like cassoulet. It also pairs perfectly with savoury dishes like shepherd's pie, a creamy mushroom ragout, or even a spicy pizza. A wine that adds that little extra to every meal.
Other information
Boutinot. What and who is Boutinot? You might as well ask: what isn't it? Domaine Boutinot is a very large wine producer. One with arms across the globe, exporting to 40 countries. Its 'home-base' and wine heart is in the Southern Rhône, but it also has estates in England, Piedmont, and South Africa. Boutinot has its affairs perfectly in order!
Paul Boutinot has joined the illustrious company of the "Rhône Riders". With Eric Monnin (Boutinot's French winemaker) by his side, they storm the southern villages of the Côtes du Rhône in their search for the perfect terroir. This quest has yielded exceptional "single village" wines, such as this excellent Côtes du Rhône Village. Sourced from, among others, Séguret and Cairanne and parts of Roaix, St. Gervais, and Sablet.
