Tasting note Boutinot Argiles Blanches Cairanne Blanc
Boutinot Argiles Blanches Cairanne blanc has fresh fruit aromas and floral notes mingled with spicy and smoky tones. A versatile wine; idiosyncratic, full-bodied, fresh, fruity, and mineral.
Food pairing
Excellent as an aperitif, with summer salads, and light fish and chicken dishes. Also delicious with North African poultry and fish dishes featuring roasted fruit, such as stewed quince.
Other information
Argiles Blanches means: Clay rich in limestone. The wine is fermented in large oak foudres of 300 and 400 liters, partly new and partly 4 years old. In aroma and taste, the wine leans towards a fine white Burgundy. The wine is produced in a small batch and is available in limited quantities only.
Traditional grape varieties from the Rhône region are used for this wine: Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Roussanne grapes. The Clairette provides extra freshness.
These grape varieties are grown in vineyards with many large stones among the vines. These so-called galets have a special function. During the day, they soak up the warm sunlight, which they release back to the vines at night. These vines would otherwise be cold due to the chilly Mistral wind.
Paul Boutinot has joined the illustrious company of the “Rhône Riders.” With Eric Monnin (Boutinot’s French winemaker) by his side, they are storming the southern villages of the Côtes du Rhône in their search for the perfect terroir.
