Tasting Notes Bodegas Serra da Estrela Albariño
The wine is still young but already jumps delightfully from the glass. The aroma is distinctly characterized by fruit elements such as apricot, peaches, and ripe exotic fruit. The taste is extremely fresh and elegant, with a remarkably smooth finish. Brilliantly clear with a straw-yellow color. An Albariño with a vibrant yellow color. Spanish white at its best!
Wine & Food
"Albariños love seafood. From fried calamari to grilled prawns. From octopus salad to a piece of white fish from the BBQ. But also truly a wine to drink with a salad with apricots or peaches or a delicious paella.
Additional Information
In the northwest of Spain, just above the Portuguese border, lies the Rias Baixas wine region. The coastal strip is particularly green, with moderate temperatures and wet summers. The wines from Rias Baixas are crisp, dry, and very pure wines. The main grape is Albariño.
Albariño thrives in the wet north of Spain, and experts even consider the wine made from it to be the best Spanish white wine. This was not always the case, as Albariño was often used in blends with other local grapes such as Loureiro, Godello, Caiño, Arinto, or Treixadura.
However, nowadays the quality is so good that more and more 100% Albariño wine is being made. Albariño also feels at home in Portugal (where it is called Alvarinho) and where this white powerhouse forms an important element of Vinho Verde.
