Tasting Notes BIO Villa Bucci Rosso
Deep ruby red in color with a complex nose of ripe plums, black cherries, and wild berries, complemented by notes of tobacco, cocoa, coffee, leather, and Mediterranean herbs. The taste is powerful yet refined, with ripe tannins, a lively freshness, and a long, elegant finish where fruit, spices, and a subtle hint of wood come together beautifully. Impressive now, but easily cellarable for 10 to 15 years. In good vintages, the wine develops even longer.
Wine & Food Pairing
BIO Villa Bucci Rosso is an excellent accompaniment to grilled red meat, leg of lamb, game dishes, and slow-cooked stews. Its complex character also shines beautifully with mushrooms, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
Additional Information
The BIO Villa Bucci Rosso is the prestigious red wine from Villa Bucci in the Italian Marche region. This organic Rosso Piceno DOC is produced exclusively in excellent vintages and comes from old vineyards around Ostra Vetere. The combination of low yields, long oak aging, and bottle aging results in a powerful, elegant wine with impressive aging potential.
This blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese ages for a long period in large oak barrels, developing aromas of ripe dark fruit, tobacco, cocoa, and Mediterranean herbs. A powerful, elegant Rosso Piceno with great depth and excellent aging potential.
The grapes are hand-picked and vinified separately per plot. After fermentation, the wine ages for 24 to 30 months in large Slavonian and French oak barrels, followed by a long bottle aging. This careful upbringing ensures great depth, refinement, and a beautiful balance between fruit, wood, and tannins.
The Bucci winery has been one of Italy's absolute top producers for many years and is particularly known for its elegant Verdicchios with great finesse, minerality, and excellent aging potential.
Fun fact:
Rosso Piceno is the largest red wine DOC in the Marche. The combination of Montepulciano and Sangiovese has existed here for centuries. Montepulciano provides color and ripe fruit, while Sangiovese adds freshness, elegance, and lively acidity. It is precisely this balance that makes Rosso Piceno one of Italy's most versatile red wines.
