Tasting Note BIO Purato Siccari Appassimento
This Sicilian Purato Siccari Appassimento has a lovely nose, with accents of figs, dried cranberries, plums, aromatic herbs, and spices. The palate is silky and supple, with a pleasant freshness. An absolute crowd-pleaser!
Food Pairing
This Appassimento Siccari Purato pairs well with vegetarian dishes, red meat, barbecue, and Mediterranean cuisine.
Additional information
Part of the grapes for this “Siccari” Appassimento are vinified immediately after harvest. Another part is left to dry for some time to achieve a more concentrated, slightly sweet flavor (the appassimento or ripasso method). “Siccari” therefore means “dried” or “laid out to dry.” Only then are these grapes fermented and the two parts brought together. Finally, the wine matures in 3,000-liter Slovenian oak barrels. The result is a concentrated, ripe, and sultry red wine with notes of red berries, herbs, coffee, and chocolate. Delicious!
The Purato winery produces a fantastic series of wines at the Feudo di Santa Tresa estate in Sicily, which goes beyond just organic:
The wines are vegan friendly. The wine bottles consist of 80% recycled glass. Labels on the bottle are made from recycled material and carry the FSC recycled label. Outer cartons are made of 100% recycled cardboard, and since 2016, the wines have been Carbon Neutral certified, meaning all emissions are offset. To compensate for CO2 emissions, investments are made in a rainforest project in Brazil.
