Tasting Notes BIO Marcel Deiss Alsace Rouge

Light ruby red in colour with aromas of red cherries, cranberry, raspberries and violets, complemented by subtle notes of white pepper, wet earth and spices. The taste is fresh, refined and juicy, with soft tannins, lively acidity and an elegant, mineral finish.

Delicious to drink now, but can be stored for another 6 to 8 years under good conditions.

Wine & Food Pairing

This refined Marcel Deiss Alsace Rouge is delicious with poultry, veal and grilled pork tenderloin. Duck breast, charcuterie, mushroom dishes and a classic tarte flambée also make an excellent combination. Slightly chilled, this wine is also surprisingly good with an extensive charcuterie board or grilled tuna.

Domaine Marcel Deiss is one of the leading wineries in Alsace. Where many producers emphasize the grape variety, Jean-Michel Deiss believes that it is the soil, location and microclimate that determine the identity of a wine. The Alsace Rouge is also made with minimal intervention, allowing the character of the vineyard to fully express itself.

The grapes are harvested by hand and ferment spontaneously with natural yeasts. The wine then matures for about twelve months on its fine lees in a combination of stainless steel tanks and older oak barrels. Intervention is kept to a minimum so that the terroir is fully expressed.
