Tasting Notes: BIO Diwald Grüner Veltliner Selektion
Refreshing and light dry white wine. Aromas of apple and gooseberry, the taste is smooth, spicy, and rounded. A delicious organic Grüner Veltliner with that characteristic peppery finish.
Wine & Food Pairing
Diwald Grüner Veltliner Selektion is excellent as an aperitif, with white meat, asparagus, salads, and (according to the winemaker himself) with Wiener Schnitzel.
Additional Information
The family business Diwald is considered one of the pioneers of Austrian organic viticulture. They have been working this way since 1980! In 2006, Martin Diwald took over the business from his father and has been pioneering ever since; all wines are made with as little intervention as possible. Wines ferment spontaneously, and natural/orange wines are also produced.
The vineyards are located in Wagram, between Vienna and Krems. Grüner Veltliner is a typical Austrian grape variety and is therefore the most common. This is, of course, also largely due to the climate where this grape thrives.
