Tasting Notes BIO Bucci Rosso Piceno Pongelli
Ruby red in color with an expressive aroma of ripe cherries, plums, blackberries, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is juicy and elegant, with soft tannins, fresh acidity, and subtle notes of spices. The finish is harmonious, refined, and invites another sip. Delicious to drink young, but also develops beautifully for 5 to 7 years.
Wine & Food
This Bucci Rosso Piceno Pongelli is a versatile companion at the table. It pairs excellently with pastas with a rich meat sauce, grilled pork or beef, and roasted chicken. Its fruity and elegant character also shines beautifully with antipasti, Italian cured meats, pizza, or aged cheeses. Even lightly chilled, it is surprisingly delicious with an extensive charcuterie board.
Additional information
The BIO Bucci Rosso Piceno Pongelli is an organic red wine from the Italian region of Marche. The wine comes from the vineyards around Ostra Vetere and is made from a classic blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese. The combination of these two grapes creates an elegant, fruity, and harmonious wine that is both approachable and gastronomically versatile.
After manual harvesting, the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for about 9 to 12 months in large oak barrels. This aging softens the tannins without overpowering the fresh fruit character.
The Bucci winery has been one of Italy's absolute top producers for many years and is particularly known for its elegant Verdicchios with great finesse, minerality, and excellent aging potential.
Fun fact:
Rosso Piceno is the largest DOC for red wine in the Marche. The combination of Montepulciano and Sangiovese has existed here for centuries. Montepulciano provides color and ripe fruit, while Sangiovese adds freshness, elegance, and lively acidity. It is precisely this balance that makes Rosso Piceno one of Italy's most versatile red wines.
