Tasting Notes Ardhuy Bourgogne Pinot Noir
The Ardhuy Bourgogne Pinot Noir has a bright ruby-red color. The nose is dominated by fresh aromas of red berries, raspberry, and cherry, subtly complemented by light rosemary and spicy nuances. On the palate, you experience a light to medium body, soft tannins, and refreshing acidity that beautifully balances the fruity flavors. This Bourgogne Pinot Noir is classic and accessible, typical of the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits terroirs.
Wine & Food Pairing
Ardhuy Bourgogne Pinot Noir pairs excellently with Bœuf bourguignon, but also with light meat dishes such as roasted chicken, veal, or duck. Also good with soft cheeses, risottos, and vegetarian pasta. Its fresh fruitiness and soft structure make it versatile at the table.
Additional Information
For the Ardhuy Bourgogne Pinot Noir, work is done with great precision and respect for tradition. The grapes are harvested by hand and strictly selected upon arrival at the cellar, ensuring that only perfectly ripe and healthy bunches are used. The grapes are then fully destemmed, resulting in a pure and refined Pinot Noir style.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, using a careful combination of pigeage and remontage. This method ensures optimal extraction of color, aromas, and structure, without losing the elegance of the wine. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine matures partly in French oak barrels, which adds subtle spicy notes and a light woody nuance, while preserving the fresh fruit and vibrant acidity.
The Ardhuy family owns more than forty hectares of vineyards in areas including Puligny-Montrachet, Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, and Corton-Charlemagne. In every wine, they strive to reflect the character of the specific vineyard or wine region as much as possible. Each plot is fermented separately, and each year it is determined how the wine will be blended and what aging process it will undergo.
Domaine d'Ardhuy is a Burgundy house that quickly became one of the top 5 producers in the region. They offer a very extensive choice of terroirs and high quality from the basics to the Crus.
Currently, the winery is converting to organic viticulture, for which they will be officially certified in 2023. Since 1981, the house has also owned a company in the Rhône.
Did you know that...
The average winery in Burgundy has an area of 8.2 hectares? In comparison, in Bordeaux this is 17 hectares, and the average in Europe is even 49 hectares. This difference can mainly be attributed to Napoleon's division and auctioning of vineyards in Burgundy, and the subsequent inheritance system. After the death of a winegrower, the vineyards are divided among all children, further fragmenting the vineyards.
