Moa worked for over twenty years as a social worker and family therapist and witnessed firsthand how many problems alcohol can cause within families. From that idea, Oddbird was born.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe wine comes from Saint-Chinian in Languedoc, an area with a Mediterranean climate. The vineyards are located on soils of schist, limestone, and old sandstone, among others. The combination of warm conditions and cooling air currents from the Massif Central helps to maintain both ripe fruit and freshness in the grapes.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe blend consists of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. Each grape has its own function: Grenache provides red fruit and roundness, Syrah for dark fruit and spiciness, Mourvèdre for depth and structure, and Carignan for freshness and firmness.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in raw concrete tanks. After fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months on fine lees, which allows the different components to integrate better and gives the wine more texture.
