The combination of the ocean, the Coastal Mountain Range, and the cool climate results in a slow-ripening Pinot Noir with great freshness and aromatic intensity.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe soil primarily consists of granite, with varying amounts of clay and silt and a layer of gravel on the surface. These conditions contribute to the mineral and fresh style of the wine. Montes is also the only producer within the D.O.
