The aroma reveals white pear, quince, and green pineapple, complemented by subtle spicy and woody notes. The palate is rich and creamy, yet maintains a beautiful tension thanks to fresh acidity. A refined combination of ripe fruit, delicate oak influence, and minerality, with a long, fresh finish.

Wine & Food Pairing

This Chenin Blanc pairs excellently with fish, shellfish, chicken, and veal. It also complements creamy pasta dishes, risotto, poultry, and dishes with a lightly spiced sauce. Due to its combination of richness and freshness, it is also an outstanding gastronomic wine.

Additional Information

The wine originates from Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. The Chenin Blanc is planted on cool, south and east-facing slopes at an altitude of approximately 220 meters, on weathered granite and loam soils. The vines are of average age, which contributes to the concentration and complexity of the wine.

The grapes are harvested early in the morning. After gentle pressing and cold settling, a portion of the wine is fermented in Burgundian-shaped French oak barrels and another portion in amphorae. The wine then matures for about seven months 'sur lie' in barrel, with the barrels occasionally rolled. This adds extra richness and texture. For the fresh citrus component, a portion of the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and later added to the barrel-aged wine.

Fun Fact

The wine is named after Louis Albert Péringuey, a 19th-century inspector-general of the vineyards in the Cape. He played an important role in the fight against phylloxera (grape phylloxera) and supervised the import of American rootstocks onto which European grape varieties were grafted. Without this technique, South African viticulture would likely have looked very different.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1078/1183/2133/files/15e800c56bac8250a02c1490eecfe1c6a346fb2b.jpg?v=1787299975
